Mashable has now become the world’s largest blog that focuses on social networking news. It features new website and services reviews and all other breaking news on the web. The CEO, Pete Cashmore is a 24 year-old and one of the top most followed Twitter Users. He founded Mashable in 2005 at the young age of 19. In an interview, when asked why the name Mashable and what the word means to him; Cashmore replied, ““Mashable” comes from the “mashups” trend. In recent years, people have been combining pieces of the web in interesting ways; you might want to plot photos from your Flickr account on Google Maps, for instance. You might also want to combine music, videos and text from different services. Whenever you combine parts of the web like this, it’s called a “mashup”. These days, virtually everything on the web is remixable…Mashable, in other words.”
The guy who used to work as a web technology consultant has been named as one of Inc Magazine’s 30 Under 30, Forbes’ Top 25 Web Celebrities and the Huffington Posts’ Top 10 Game Changers 2009.
